Future Major Platforms meeting contributes to industry’s vision for tomorrow

A follow-up meeting of the representatives who were involved in the initial FMP Initiative took place in Ottawa on May 11, 2009. More than 50 senior representatives from industry, academia, research institutes and government departments were in attendance.  The objective of this meeting was to review and validate the recommendations of the FMP report and to determine the way ahead to achieve the objectives of positioning Canadian industry on the Future Major Platforms. Key to the success of this exercise is the identification of target platforms and relevant future technologies and the alignment of adequate support mechanisms.

This initiative is a key element of our strategy to position the Canadian industry to capture some of the huge opportunities that lie ahead. We need to ensure that we have the tools in place to keep our position among the world leaders.
