The Aerospace Industries Association is pleased with the announcement of the launch of the CSeries family of aircrafts

Farnborough, July 13th 2008 – The Aerospace Industries Association of Canada (AIAC) is pleased with the announcement made today by Bombardier Aeronautics to launch the CSeries family of 110 to 130 seat family of aircraft.
“It’s a great day for the Canadian aerospace industry, the fourth largest globally” said Dr. Claude Lajeunesse, President of AIAC. “This announcement is a testimony to our industry’s excellence in innovation, to the level of our ingenuity, as well as to the know-how and productivity of the Canadian aerospace industry’s labour.” he added.
An undisputed innovation champion, the Canadian aerospace sector is crucial to the future of the Canadian economy. In 2007, it generated revenues of 22, 7 billion dollars , 82 per cent of which were exports. The industry provides direct employment to more than 82,000 workers, and today’s announcement will translate into a significant increase in this performance in the years to come.
“Bombardier’s capacity to innovate has always been at the heart of its success. The CSeries program further confirms the foresight of this globally renowned Canadian multinational, leader of our aerospace industry” states Dr. Lajeunesse.
“I would like to congratulate the governments of Canada and Québec for their wise investment decisions which are repayable and will generate considerable economic spin-offs.” Dr. Lajeunesse concluded.
