As Canada’s international contracting and procurement agency and a federal Crown corporation reporting to the Minister of International Trade, the Canadian Commercial Corporation’s (CCC) prime public policy mandate is to promote and facilitate international trade on behalf of Canadian industry, particularly with foreign governments. The Corporation supports Canadian companies contracting into the defence sector, primarily with the United States, and those involved in large-scale engineering and procurement projects globally. In 2008-09, CCC achieved a record-breaking business volume of $1.8 billion in exports.
CCC is Canada’s foreign military sales organization and is responsible for carrying out Canada’s commitments under the Defence Production Sharing Agreement (DPSA), which has led to the development of a strong and mutually beneficial North American defence industrial base, as well as through NASA opportunities, and through other related agreements for defence development.
CCC offers two contracting options: sale to foreign governments, when taking on the role of prime contractor with a Canadian supplier; and purchase on behalf of foreign governments, when taking on the role of a procurement agent linking foreign governments to Canadian capability. CCC’s services provide expedited access to qualified Canadian suppliers; a timely, cost-effective, rigorous and transparent procurement process; a network of unique relationships; as well as proven contracting and procurement expertise.
In providing these contracting and procurement services, CCC works with the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (DFAIT), Export Development Canada (EDC), the Department of National Defence (DND), Industry Canada (IC), Public Works and Government Services (PWGSC) and other government departments and agencies as part of a whole-of-government approach that aims to provide the best possible solutions for Canadian exporters and foreign governments.
