L-3 MAS’ team of aeronautics and defence experts has designed innovative solutions to significantly increase the service life of aircraft such as the CF-18 fighter jet, the Snowbirds’ CT-114 demonstration jet, and the C-130 transport aircraft for the Canadian government and a number of foreign governments.
One of L-3 MAS’ biggest accomplishments is separating the CF-18 fighter jet in three sections, retrieving its central fuselage and replacing it with a new one, and ensuring the aircraft can fly again and handle G-forces while sustaining operational performance. L-3 MAS is the only commercial company in the world capable of carrying out this demanding work, which in turn enables them to export their knowledge to international markets.
L-3 MAS offers comprehensive fleet management services such as structural and avionics upgrades, aircraft component repair & overhaul, integrated logistics support, aerostructure work, field service support and technical publications, plus a full range of technical support services.
Through aircraft damage assessments, engineering repairs and upgrades, and on-site aircraft work, L‑3 MAS helps aircraft operators to refurbish their fleets and accurately plan future repairs. Frequently called upon by the Canadian Armed Forces, L-3 MAS has also caught the attention of international customers. The company has helped the United Kingdom’s Royal Air Force replace outer wings on three of its C-130K aircraft, and has worked with the Australian Defence Materiel Organization to design a central fuselage replacement program for its F/A-18 aircraft.
