CAE NH90 Helicopter Simulator: Simulating Helicopter Flight

  • CAE LogoCanada’s CAE Inc. is a world leader in providing flight simulation training solutions to civil aviation industry and defence forces around the globe. Recently, the Canadian company helped develop the world’s first full-mission simulator for NH90 military helicopters. In addition to reducing wear and tear on helicopters, helicopter simulation reduces the safety risks present in actual flight and leaves behind no carbon footprint.

Located in Bückeburg Germany, the helicopter training simulator is used by the German Armed Forces for military aircrew training. Developed and designed by Helicopter Flight Training Services (HFTS) – a consortium owned equally by CAE, Eurocopter, Thales and Rheinmetall Defence – the simulator is helping to reduce the number of flight hours pilots must spend in actual NH90 helicopters.

CAE NH90 SimulatorCAE led the development of the NH90 simulator and customers from around the world are turning to the Canadian company to acquire similar systems. CAE is currently developing and designing NH90 training systems for the Australian Defence Forces, and both Dutch and French consortia have requested similar full-flight and mission simulators.

With more than 900 simulators and flight training devices sold to more than 115 airlines, aircraft manufacturers and training centres, CAE has simulated almost every modern airliner, regional jet, and business jet on the market today. With the launch of the NH90 helicopter simulator, Canadian technology is helping helicopter pilots safely train and become better prepared for the rigours of military helicopter flight.
